Senior Associate Scientist, Pharmacology

Summary:

The Senior Associate Scientist role is part of the Pharmacology team that supports Metis Therapeutics internal pipeline and acquisition of external assets. We are building an internal pipeline of diverse set of targets spanning multiple therapeutic areas. You will be working with the broader team to identify in vitro assays for new targets and implementing a compound screening workflow by working closely with external CROs. Based on the project requirements, you will also be responsible for in vitro assay development either inhouse or through external CRO. You will be working closely with chemistry and in vivo pharmacology teams to move compounds through the discovery pipeline efficiently. Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute in vitro biochemical, and cell-based assay development for compound screening and biomarker development in house and in collaboration with external CRO.  

  • Analyze data using statistical tools, interpret and present data in team meetings. 

  • Proactively search for, identify, and evaluate potential contract research organizations (CROs) for assay development, compound screening, and biomarker discovery for METiS’s pipeline targets. 

  • Provide logistics support and lead the efforts to set up METiS’s in house laboratory for in vitro assay development. 

  • Provide due diligence for in-licensing as and when needed. 

  • Communicate status and present data of ongoing projects to key stakeholders on a timely basis. Deliver oral and written presentations to management to seek approval for next steps in drug discovery. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS with 5-year industry experience or MS with 3-year industry experience or Ph.D. in a Life Sciences Field, preferably Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Nephrology, Oncology, or Immunology-related. 

  • Extensive hands-on experience of biochemical and cell-based assay development for compound screening. 

  • Extensive hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture.  

  • Experience working with CROs for assay development, compound screenings, PK/PD, and/or biomarker discovery.  

  • Ability to drive projects to deliver timely results and follow through on internal and external commitments.  

  • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with internal groups and external stakeholders. 

  • Experience in Microsoft suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.), GraphPad Prism, Adobe Acrobat softwares is required.  

  • Should be able to lift 25 lbs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in primary cell culture and iPSC-derived cell culture.  

  • Experience in animal handling, dosing, in vivo pharmacology including PK/PD, and biomarker discovery.
